Privacy policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Marettimo Studio handles your personal data when you visit marettimostudio.com or buy from us. We comply with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Who we are
Marettimo Studio is operated by Jan Kamiński, trading as Marettimo Studio Jan Kamiński, a sole trader registered in Poland (NIP 5592071633). Our registered address is in Poland. We sell exclusively to consumers in the United Kingdom. For any data protection enquiries, contact us at hello@marettimostudio.com.
What we collect
- Order & delivery data: name, delivery and billing address, email, phone number, items purchased, payment confirmation (we do not store card numbers — payments are handled by Shopify Payments and PayPal).
- Account data (if you create one): email and password hash, order history, saved addresses.
- Communications: emails you send us and our replies; newsletter sign-ups (email only).
- Site analytics: pages visited, session duration, device and browser type, approximate location derived from IP. We use Shopify’s built-in analytics and may also use third-party tools (e.g. Google Analytics, Meta Pixel) to understand traffic and improve the site.
- Cookies: see Cookies below.
Why we use it (legal bases)
- Performance of contract: to take and fulfil your order, process payment and arrange delivery.
- Legitimate interest: to prevent fraud, improve the site, and run aggregate analytics.
- Consent: for marketing emails and non-essential cookies. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legal obligation: to keep tax and accounting records as required by Polish and UK law.
Who we share it with
We share the minimum necessary data with trusted processors:
- Shopify Inc. — the platform that hosts this store, processes orders and handles card payments via Shopify Payments. Shopify is GDPR-certified; see shopify.com/legal/privacy.
- Fulfilment partner — we use a third-party sourcing and fulfilment agent based in China to dispatch your order. They receive only the data needed to package and ship: your name, address, phone number and order contents. They are contractually bound to confidentiality and to delete your data after fulfilment is complete.
- Payment providers — Shopify Payments (Stripe) and PayPal handle your card or wallet details directly; we never see your full card number.
- Email service — Shopify Email or our newsletter provider, used to send order confirmations, shipping updates and (with consent) marketing.
- Analytics providers — aggregated, mostly non-identifying usage data.
- Authorities — where required by law (e.g. HMRC, courts).
We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
International transfers
Some of our processors (e.g. Shopify, our fulfilment partner) may process your data outside the UK and EEA. Where this is the case we rely on UK and EU-approved Standard Contractual Clauses, the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, or equivalent safeguards, to ensure your data remains protected.
How long we keep it
- Order and accounting records: 6 years, as required by Polish and UK tax law.
- Account data: until you ask us to close the account, then deleted within 30 days (except records we must retain for tax).
- Newsletter data: until you unsubscribe, then removed within 30 days.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access your data, correct inaccuracies, request deletion, restrict or object to processing, and request portability. You may also withdraw consent at any time, and lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk). To exercise any right, email hello@marettimostudio.com.
Cookies
We use essential cookies to make the cart and checkout work. With your consent we also use analytics and marketing cookies to understand traffic and show relevant ads. You can manage cookie preferences at any time via the cookie banner shown on your first visit, or by clearing your browser’s site data.
